What does a American Curl look like?
American Curl kittens are born with straight ears that start to curl back within the first week or so. The adult ear curves away from the face by 90 to 180 degrees, and the cartilage at the base stays firm. The rest of the cat is elegant and balanced, with walnut-shaped eyes and a silky coat that can be short or semi-long.
American Curl personality
Curls are known for staying playful and kitten-like into adulthood. They are social, gentle and curious, and usually get along well with children and other pets.
How to care for a American Curl
Handle the ears gently, because the cartilage can be damaged if they are forced flat. Clean them only with a soft cloth. The coat needs a weekly brush.
How do I know if my cat is a American Curl?
The ears are the only real clue. Ears that curl backward point to an American Curl. Ears that fold forward and down point to a Scottish Fold instead.
