Privacy policy
Short version: your cat photo is analyzed in memory on our server and deleted as soon as the answer is sent back. We never store it. We set no cookies and do not track you. The only thing we count is an anonymous usage statistic that cannot be linked to you.

What happens to your photo
When you choose a photo, your browser shrinks it to at most 512 pixels on the long side and sends it to our server over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. The server checks that it shows a cat, runs our breed model on it and returns the three closest breeds. The photo is held only in the server's memory while this happens and is discarded right after. It is never written to disk, saved in a database, logged, shared or used to train our model.
Our server is hosted by Render (render.com) in the United States. Like any web host, Render handles the connection, including your IP address, to deliver the page. We do not keep request logs with your photo or your IP address.
Share links (for example /result/ragdoll/) contain only the breed name. They never contain your photo.
Anonymous usage statistics
When you use the scanner, we count that use in an anonymous, aggregate statistic. Each count contains only the event (for example that a result was shown and which breed it was), a rough match score, a country-level location, your device type and the hour it happened. We store no IP address, set no cookies and attach no identifier of any kind, so no count can be linked to you. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, we do not count anything at all.
We also note, in one word, where a visit came from: a search engine, an AI assistant, one of our other sites, a social network or no referrer at all. Your browser sends only the host name of the page that linked to us, and we keep just that one-word channel.
Cookies
We do not set cookies. The site works without them.
Advertising
This site shows no ads at the moment. If we add ads later, we will name the ad partner, its cookies and the consent options here before they go live.
Your rights (GDPR)
We aim to comply with the GDPR. Because we keep no photos and no personal data from the tool, there is normally nothing personal we hold about you. Write to us at the address above with any request.
